But a photographer documented that business was slow at a La Cañada Boulevard stand operated by Douglas and Craig Johnson, Stephanie Boyle and Lisa Roth, despite the reasonable price of 5 cents per cup, or 3 cents for a half-cup.

Efforts of the La Cañada Chamber of Commerce and other civic groups in the Foothills bore fruit when Los Angeles County Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz canceled plans he had earlier announced to shut down the Montrose Sheriff’s Station and have all local law enforcement duties shifted to the Altadena station.
