Thursday Club to offer scholarships

The La Cañada Thursday Club has announced that applications are now available for its annual scholarship awards, which have ranged in recent years from $700 to $1,000.

One of the main philanthropic projects of the club is to encourage the youth of the community in their academic endeavors. Members celebrate the academic achievements of local students at its May Tea by honoring the scholarship recipients.

Scholarships are based on academic achievement, promise, and financial need. All applicants must live within the boundaries of the La Cañada Flintridge postal district, zip code 91011. Applications can be found at www.lacanadathursdayclub.org and at local high schools.

The deadline for returning applications is March 3.
