Nick Berkuta named La Cañadan of the Year
Nick Berkuta has been named La Cañadan of the Year by the Kiwanis Club.
Berkuta is a former Public Safety Commissioner and retired lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He also volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America and YMCA. He is currently a Parks and Recreation Commissioner for the city.
Berkuta and his wife, Mary Ann, have lived in the city for 37 years, according to the Kiwanis Club.
The Kiwanis Club honors one resident every year. A lunch for Berkuta will be held on May 1 at noon in Descanso Gardens’ Van DeKamp Hall. To make a reservation, call (818) 790-9901. Admission is $20.
