Along the Scouting Trails: Girl Scout seeks sports equipment for children in Kenya

La Cañada High School student Amber Graves will travel to an orphanage in Africa this summer to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Residents can assist her in the project by donating lightly used or new sports equipment such as footballs, soccer balls, handballs and Frisbees. Amber will bring the equipment to children at Sherphard's Home in Kenya to teach them the importance of staying active.

Donations are being accepted through Friday, June 14 at La Cañada Presbyterian Church and the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA. Call Amber at (818) 790-3746 for more information.
