Want to be a member of the 2014 Tournament of Roses Royal Court?

The Tournament of Roses Association is now accepting applications. Young unmarried women who live and attend a school full-time in the Pasadena Area Community College District are eligible to apply. Applicants must also be 17 years old by Dec. 31 and no older than 21 before Jan. 5, 2013.

The district area includes La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, South Pasadena, San Marino and Altadena. Close to 1,000 women apply each year for the chance to be on the Royal Court, according to the association.

Tryouts are on Sept. 14 and 16. The seven-member Royal Court will be announced on Oct. 7, with the selection of the queen on Oct. 24.

Besides riding on top of a float in the Rose Parade and attending the Rose Bowl game, members of the court will also be required to make various public appearances across the area and serve as ambassadors for the Tournament and the city of Pasadena.

Applications are available online at https://ow.ly/nLiE0.
