A memorial service will be held in La Cañada Flintridge next week for longtime Tujunga resident William Edward “Bill” Petteplace Sr., who passed away on Sept. 22 at the age of 82.

The service will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at St. George’s Episcopal Church, which he attended following the closure of Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Tujunga.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Petteplace and his wife, Betty, moved to Tujunga in 1960. He was active in the Lions Club there for 40 years, serving three times as its president.

Petteplace is survived by six children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter and a grandchild.

The family suggests that donations in his memory be sent to Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence, P. O. Box 3896, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
