Community Center of LCF Holiday Ceramics Sale — Friday, Dec. 13, 3 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shop for holiday gifts from a wide variety of hand-crafted ceramics. Holiday Open House and Gingerbread House Contest Sunday, Dec. 15, 1 to 4 p.m. Lanterman House, 4420 Encinas Drive, La Cañada. In addition to docent-led tours of the 1915 Lanterman House museum, activities will include a free craft, a Gingerbread House Contest and caroling with the La Cañada High School Choral Singers. Light refreshments will be served. The Christmas tree on display in the Lanterman House ballroom has been decorated with custom gingerbread-inspired ornaments created by members of the community. The Ginger Bread House Contest is free to enter, and the gingerbread creations will be on display in the Lanterman House Visitor Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Awards will be bestowed by team of judges, including Mayor Len Pieroni, Valley Sun editor Carol Cormaci and Tom Samaha, owner of Jane’s Cakes and sponsor of the event. Visitors may purchase five voting tickets for $1 to help decide which gingerbread house will receive the People’s Choice Special Award. Ornament Painting Monday, Dec. 16, 1 to 3 p.m. for seniors; 3:30 to 5 p.m. for families. Create keepsake holiday ornaments at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive, La Cañada. Cost is $17. Free parking. Holiday Boutique Thursday, Dec. 19, 2:30 to 5 p.m. Unique gifts will be offered during an event hosted by the La Cañada Thursday Club at their clubhouse, 4440 Woodleigh Lane, La Cañada. Vendors include Karen Hopper (jewelry), Karen Bagnard (stationery items that can be framed as artwork), Victoria Duque (jewelry), Dale Michell (clothing and accessories), D.J. Giles (wraps and accessories) and Susie’s Clothing (designer apparel). Light refreshments will be served.


La Cañada High School Music Department’s 2019 Winter Spectacular Thursday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m. Enjoy festive sounds of the season produced by the LCHS 9-12 Band, the 9-12 Orchestra and the Jazz Band. LCHS Auditorium, 4463 Oak Grove Drive, La Cañada. A reception afterward is sponsored by the Music Parents Assn.


Crown City Ringers annual holiday concert, “Carol of the Bells”Friday, Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m. Gamble Lounge at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, 585 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. Admission is free.

Pasadena Symphony’s ‘Holiday Candlelight’Saturday, Dec. 14 at 4 and 7 p.m. All Saints Church, 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena. Special guests include David Lockington, conductor; Sarah Uriarte Berry, vocalist; Los Angeles Children’s Chorus; the Donald Brinegar Singers and the L.A. Bronze Handbell Ensemble. Meditation Class Fridays, noon to 1 p.m. This weekly meditation class, led by the Kadampa Meditation Center, is held in Room 4 at the Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada. No meditation experience is necessary, and all are welcome. The hour begins with guided meditation, followed by a teaching and then another meditation. Cost: free for YMCA of the Foothills members; $5 for nonmembers.

International Folk DancingThursdays, 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to learn and do fun and beautiful dances from around the world every Thursday evening at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive, La Cañada. Teaching level is adjusted to each evening’s participants. The large dance room has a new floor and the ample parking is free. Each dancer’s $5 pays for the class use of the facility. Pioneer Club/New Beginnings ClubMondays at 11 a.m. Seniors who would like to lunch with others and perhaps enjoy a game of bingo or go on outings are invited to check out the Pioneer Club that meets the first and third Monday each month at Holy Redeemer Church, 2411 Montrose Ave., Montrose, or the New Beginnings Club that convenes at St. James the Less, 4625 Dunsmore Ave., La Crescenta each second and fourth Monday.
