Kiwanis-AM to learn about jazz

The La Cañada Kiwanis-AM Club, which meets at 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays, will be given a presentation of jazz and a live performance from Terry Harrington, an outstanding saxophone and clarinet player, on Aug. 25.

On Sept. 1, Tim Peters, the executive director of Door of Hope, will speak about his organization's work on behalf of homeless families.

Jr. League hosts potential members

Women interested in joining the Junior League of Pasadena are invited to attend one of two upcoming open houses, set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 16 at the league's headquarters, 149 S. The league is celebrating its 85th year serving the community. Members also receive training in leadership and advocacy skills, management, marketing and communication skills.
