Float group holds 'Happy Hour'

More than 90 supporters of the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association turned out Sept 24 for the monthly Happy Hour, which was hosted by Jean and Don Spomer.

Among the partygoers were Mary and Duane Batenhorst, Peggy and Bill Barber, Gloria and Terry Beyer, Margaret and Rex Quinn, Evelyn and Dick Barley, Pat Anderson, Fran and Bill Evans, Pat Foltyn, Bob Knight, Jackie and Don Walls, Doris Coates, JoAnn and Gil McCoy, Jean and Ron Zink, Lee and Merv Johnson, Patti and Ross Newton, Darleen Schuster, Joel Peterson, Joyce Riebling, Nancy and Ludwig Fraines, Pat Wroan, Association President Pam Wiedenbeck, Dee and Fraser Draper, Doris Horwith, Malek Peterman and Peggy Hotaling.

Also enjoying the ambience around the patio and pool area were Sherrill and Jim Carbonetti, Claire Slaughter, Sarah and Mayfield Marshall, Vera and Garth Gragg, David Moffett, Trisch and Ron Diaz, Joey and Dave Mitchell, Julie Cameron and David Granish, Liz and Bob Craven, Diane and John Landrum, Ellen and Anthony Portantino, Sharlyn French, Joyce and Bob Covey, Bob Knight, Bob Wallace, Anne Hills, John Burroughs, Betty Jones, Noel Wills, Mary and Daryal Gant, Bobbie and Clyde Hemphill, Nancy and Dick Grippi, Margie and Tony Riewe, Gloria and Stewart Lee, Becky and Chuck Gelhaar, Ruth and Charlie Plowman, Joel Smith, Helen Babis, Helen and Dave Gilstrap, Dorothy and Bob Lyans and Jim Geoghegan.

The next Happy Hour will be on Friday, Oct. 22 , from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Liz Argue, 1314 Descanso Drive, La Cañada. Anyone over 18 is welcome, whether or not an Association member — just bring an appetizer to share and buy your beverage of choice at a nominal cost, all in support of our city's 2011 Rose Parade float: "3-2-1 DIG!".
