The Valley Line: Stardusters hold costumed affair

The holiday season is about to begin. Already I’m making grocery shopping lists to begin some of the preparations for the big Thanksgiving feast. I do love this time of year the best and we jump right from figuring out clever ways to use all the left-over turkey meat up to putting up Christmas lights and trimming the tree.

Gigi and Jim Schlueter, co-presidents of the Stardusters Dance Club, got everyone in a carnivale mood by requesting that guests wear costumes for the group’s latest dance. The theme for the evening’s festivities was “Got Your Spell on Me, Baby.”

Acting as hosts for the dance that was held at the Angeles National Golf Course and Country Club were Daryal and Mary Gant, John and Diane Landrum, Sharon and Joseph Roth, and Chris and Cory Stevens.

From scary to elegant, guests took the costume request seriously. It was fun to just sit back to see what characters would be coming through the door next. Costume winners for the evening were Lillian and Roy Olafson as a crazy clown couple. Mary and Mark Herring also took honors for their costumes.

The featured dance for the evening was the Cha-Cha and the Blue Soul Band provided all the very danceable tunes.

The tables were dressed with black table cloths accented with burgundy napkins. Baskets of exotic flowers surrounded by votive candles centered each dining table.

Also among those enjoying the evening fun were Bill and Peggy Barber, Pete and Carol Cortez, Carl and Heather Emge, Barry and Sue Franzan, Dennis and Pat Hetherington, Jim and Susan Holland, Michael and Virginia Karsch, Kent and Stefi Kuster.

More dancers were Jim Mramor and Edie Askew, Donaldo Monroy and Jeraldene Saunders, Pete and Cathy Palermo, Jim and Sally Perkins, Willis and Marilyn Petchow, Newt and Diane Russell, Bob and Judy Snyder, Tristen and Pam Towery, Lloyd and Irene Welch, and Paul Westmoreland and Elaine Alexander.
