‘Floaters’ turn out for final party of year

The LCF Tournament of Roses Association’s annual Happy Hour “Under the Bridge” Sunday night was festive as usual, with more than 65 enthusiastic supporters viewing the float before its “flowering” during Deco Week.

While the evening was crisp, the appetizers were hearty and Christmas cheer kept the crowd warm as they sipped and munched, chatted about their holidays, shopped at Floatique and speculated about the weather for the much-anticipated Rose Parade.

Thursday Club hosts Christmas gathering

The La Cañada Thursday Club rang in the holiday season with a festive Christmas party attended by nearly 150 members, spouses and guests. The progressive-style party began with cocktails and hors ‘oeuvres at the spectacularly decorated home of Nancy and Bob Wagner. The Wagners’ holiday décor is legendary and it served as the perfect backdrop for the Club’s Christmas party.

After cocktails, the party continued at the club’s facility on Woodleigh Lane, where a delicious three-course dinner was served. Guests were entertained by a troupe of Victorian carolers who strolled throughout the clubhouse singing Christmas songs.

Sue Tutt was the event chairperson. Committee members included Judy Cooper, Dotty Greenawalt, Martha Moore, Jody Platisa, Eunice Van Valkenburgh and Nancy Wagner.
