Share

Rose Princess Sarah Zuno joined Franklin High School Key Club Advisor Elaine Harada and Key Club officers at last Wednesday’s meeting of the Kiwanis Club of La Canada a.m. When the scheduled speaker did not arrive, Princess Sarah stepped forward to present a 30-minute talk about her Rose Court experience.

The Franklin High School senior described the selection process, the 14 distinctive outfits with multiple accessories that were worn at 145 separate appearances (including 11 in “our toughest day”) and the Rose Parade day, which began at 1:30 a.m. and didn’t end until 11:30 p.m. Sarah, who hopes to attend Stanford or Brown University, spoke extemporaneously with poise and humor and was complimented by Kiwanis members as a young woman with a bright future.

The Kiwanis a.m. club meets each Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the Lutheran Church in the Foothills.
