Ana Bazikyan rolled a stroller below a canopy of redwood and birch trees at Descanso Gardens’ Japanese Garden Tea House on Monday afternoon and listened the often fast-paced Latin jazz of Incendio as the last hours of summer slipped away.

Bazikyan said the fiery music left her happy.

“This music is right for the garden,” Bazikyan said.

The concert was part of Descanso’s end-of-summer bash, named Boddy’s Big Backyard after Descanso Garden’s founding family.

Many of the nearly 300 people who paid $8 each to attend munched on hamburgers and hot dogs, sipped on soda and cheered the spicy sounds.

Boddy’s Big Backyard is the last of the concerts this summer season. Descanso Gardens continues to host arts, culinary, horticulture and other events for adults and children throughout the year.
