La Cañada Towne Singers Celebrate the Holidays in Song, Comedy, Dance

Here they come caroling, bigger and better than ever.

The Towne Singers, La Cañada’s award-winning theatrical chorus, has announced plans for its annual holiday concert, to be held Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in Lanterman Auditorium.

In recent years, the concert series has become a much-anticipated local event.

“We’re raising the bar again this year,” said Towne Singers director Sean Boulware. “We’re going to have over 100 singers on stage, backed by a 19-piece orchestra. We’re also planning to perform most of the show from memory to really reach out and connect with our audience. It’s going to be another wonderful event, both musically and theatrically.”

The Towne Singers prides itself on delivering an atypical choral performance. This year, the program will feature a gaggle of dancing reindeer and a comic take on the perils of holiday shopping, as well as a broad selection of holiday favorites ranging from classical to jazz.

Also appearing again this year will be the Little Towne Singers children’s choir, a number of featured soloists and ensembles and, of course, the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus.

Tickets for both concerts are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, call Dick Emerson at 790-7017.
