Students, Parents Do Lunch

Share

Friday, Dec. 10 was a beautiful, sunny day, especially for a picnic lunch and that is just how hundreds of students and parents at La Cañada Elementary School celebrated the holiday season, the Southern California way.

Wearing sunglasses and hats, the parents came carrying lawn chairs, blankets and, of course, lunch, which included pizza, Subway sandwiches, Taco Bell, salads and the American favorite, hamburgers.

“This is a nice activity. We didn’t have this when I was in school. Every parent has their traditional lunch to bring. Mine is Subway sandwiches. Wherever you go, you will see a line of parents at a fast food place and you know they’re getting their lunch for this,” said Kathy Kovalcik.

Parents enjoyed their child’s half-hour lunch with them. Some parents had to have two lunches, since they have children in different grade levels.

Many parents acknowledged they took an extra long lunch break from their offices, to join their child. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Cassutt reported taking the entire day off work for the occasion.
