A five-suite, one-story office complex was being built where the Brezean Ceramics business once stood at 1051 Foothill Blvd. Mirisola Investments, new to La Cañada, was building the project. Target date for completion was the spring of 1996.

The Crescenta-Cañada YMCA was constructing a new, $65,000 parking lot east of the Y. The 58-space lot was expected to be completed by February 1986.

Thirty Years Ago ...

More than 200 people were on hand as the La Cañada United Methodist Church held ground-breaking ceremonies for a new multi-purpose building at the Berkshire Place church campus.

Forty Years Ago ...

La Cañada Flower Boutique at 1039 Foothill Blvd. was the winner of the first Yuletide Window Trim Contest held in December 1965 by the merchants division of the local Chamber of Commerce. Honorable mention winners were Molly’s Horse Parlor, Eijis Flowers and Showcase Properties realty office.

Fifty Years Ago ...

A complete elementary school campus on the former Avery site at the top of Palm Drive would cost the local school district about $486,523, the Pasadena architectural firm of Neptune and Thomas told the school board. The preliminary estimate included four classroom buildings of four rooms each, an administration building, multi-purpose building, kindergarten building, playgrounds and parking facilities.
