Kiwanis Adventure Series on Saturday to Explore Hawaii

The film “Hawaii Paradise” will be presented Sat., Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Flintridge Preparatory School.The third of the 2005 - 2006 Kiwanis Travel Adventure Series will be on Saturday night, Jan. 28, with a film titled “Hawaii Paradise.” The film will be narrated by the filmmaker, Dennis Burkhart, an award winning cinematographer whose credits include a wide variety of travelogues and television specials.

The film will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Flintridge Preparatory School, located at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Crown Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge. Pre-program entertainment featuring Tom Burrows’ piano melodies will begin at 7:10 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Tickets for individual performances are $8; season tickets for the balance of the series are $30.

Hawaii is one of everyone’s favorite travel destinations. Hawaii abounds in surprises: vibrant people, exotic cultures, exciting history, beautiful seas and scenic wonders. This video captures the uniqueness of a vacation wonderland, going beyond the usual, to sights seldom seen. All captured for your enjoyment in the colorful pageant of Hawaiian life.

The fourth program in the series will be on Feb.11, when armchair travelers will explore the wine regions of France. The natural wonders of the Southeast Seaboard will be the subject on March 25 and a tour of Southern Italy on April 29.

The proceeds from this Series will help fund the youth programs of the La Cañada Kiwanis Foundation. This non-profit foundation sponsors the premier youth service programs in the La Cañada Schools. The sponsored youth programs include the Key Clubs at both LCHS and Flintridge Prep and a K-Kids Club at one of the elementary schools. More than 300 young people are involved in these programs and they join the Kiwanis Family in annually providing thousands of hours of service to the community.
