After beginning the season with two sound victories, the Flintridge Prep varsity football team has been bushwacked in its last two.

Host Pasadena Marantha dropped the Rebels, 42-12, two weeks ago and last Saturday, Oxnard Santa Clara pounded Prep, 42-7, in its final nonleague game of the season.

Fortunately for the 2-2 Rebels they get a bye this week to regroup. They begin Prep League play with an away contest at Claremont Webb on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m.

In the Santa Clara game, the Saints literally rolled over Prep with 602 yards of total offense, including 485 yards on the ground.

Both teams scored a touchdown in the first quarter. Prep got theirs on a 73-yard TD pass from quarterback Joe Farewell to Adrian Rodriguez with less than a minute to go in the quarter. Santa Clara roared by the Rebels with three TDs in the second quarter. The Saints added to their lead with single TDs in the third and fourth quarters.

Although 4-0 Santa Clara only threw for 117 yards in the air, two of their six TDs were by pass receptions.

Farewell finished 10 of 15 for 121 yards.
