LC Freshman Football Wins Season's Finale

The La Cañada High freshman football team dominated host San Marino last Friday with a decisive 20-7 season finale victory over the Titans.

The Spartans' offense gained 298 yards, including 170 yards passing by quarterback Jeff Grigg and 128 yards rushing by Omar Rady, Jonathan Sparks and Ben Drake. Receiver Josh Hanson caught passes for a total of 86 yards.

Ryan Kaul, Kevin Kim and Kyle Mickelson assisted on offense. Brent Johnson lead the Spartans' defense with six-and-a-half tackles, with four-and-a-half for Michael Chung and three-and-a-half for Jamie Dick and Michael Knopf.

Linebacker David Miller made a terrific interception and ran the ball back 80 yards. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans' defense, including Trenton Anderson, Brit Lim, Chris Gilbert, held the Titans scoreless.

The Spartans' freshmen have really enjoyed the season and want to thank coaches Steve Zimmerman, Casey Mollett and Simon Constantinides for a great year.
