The 8th annual Dinner Show to raise funds for the La Cañada High School Instrumental Music Program takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 10, on the school’s Oak Grove Drive campus and is open to the public.

The theme for the event is California Dreamin’ and it will be a music-filled evening featuring performances by all of the instrumental music groups at LCHS 7-12. Also, guests will enjoy a buffet dinner, silent and live auctions and raffle offerings. The venue is the LCHS North Gym.

“It will be a lively evening, and a chance for everyone to hear all of our groups, from the junior high band and orchestra up through experienced ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Drum Lines,” said Susan Hamre, band and orchestra director at LCHS. “All of our groups have exciting new music that we’re sure the community will love.”

Much of the money used to run the school’s instrumental music programs, including staff, music, uniforms, instruments and other necessities, come from fund-raising events. This year, California Dreamin’ will be the only fundraiser, as the parents’ group will not be hosting the Carnival as in years past.

Last year, a record number of music fans enjoyed the festivities and the band, orchestra and color guard hope to exceed those numbers this year. To learn more call Dorit Zirler at 790-1117; to buy tickets in advance, call 952-4261.
