La Cañada Girl Scouts Deliver Cookies to Crew of USS Pasadena

Share

Fifteen cases of Girl Scout cookies were delivered to the crew of the USS Pasadena by Noli Caswell and Jackie Harris on behalf of the La Cañada Girl Scouts on March 21 as part of the Girl Scouts Gift of Caring program.

The crew was extremely appreciative after they realized the cookies were gifts.

“You mean you’re giving these to us?” expressed one crew member. “We’re only doing our job, but thanks a million.”

Once the realization sunk in, they scoped out their favorite types and looked forward to diving into them back at the boat. Because of the generosity of La Cañada residents, each member of the USS Pasadena will have his or her own box of cookies.

“I wish everyone who donated to the ‘Troop to Troop’ Girl Scout Gift of Caring program could have been here to see the crew’s appreciation,” said Noli Caswell, retired Girl Scout leader and La Cañada Service Unit Manager. “The officers and crew were truly moved. This was an experience of a lifetime.”

Hosted by the USS Pasadena Foundation, the officers and crew enjoyed a well deserved day touring the Tournament of Roses House, Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Rose Bowl.

The organization rallies Pasadena community support for its “namesake” USS Pasadena nuclear submarine’s officers, crew and crew families. Having just completed a 15 month overhaul and upgrade, the USS Pasadena SSN 752 is returning to active duty.

With cookies stowed on board, the crew is ready to “shove off.”
