Over 50 local students are participating in Revolution Dance Center’s first annual Summer Theater Project’s production of Disney’s “High School Musical” which opens Thursday, Aug. 2 at Crescenta Valley High School’s MacDonald Auditorium.

The production features La Cañada residents Josh Adler (as Troy), Lindsey Trujillo (as Ripper), Doug Robbins (as Zeke), Alexis Slater and Lauren Gerard (as cheerleaders), Jungmin Lee and Megan Elmassian (as skaters), Tara Elmassian (as a brainiac), and Bodhi Brooks (as a jock).

The cast has spent the last six weeks learning songs, dialogue, and choreography, as well as building and painting sets, to perform the full-length stage show directed by Brent Beerman and Kathi Chaplar of Crescenta Valley High School’s drama department.

“We wanted to give our talented cast members opportunities to play different parts, so the cast leads will alternate between high school students for two shows and middle school students for the other two shows,” said director Beerman.

“It’s a really fun, family-oriented show,” added lead choreographer Julie Kay Stallcup.

The production runs from Thursday, Aug. 2 through Saturday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. There is a matinee performance on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Reserved seats are $15 and general admission is $10. Tickets are available by phone from Revolution Dance Center at 951-5700.
