Human bones that were discovered in Angeles National Forest late last month are still under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff homicide division.

Bow hunters discovered a skull on Dec. 29 near mile marker 2.23 on Mt. Wilson Road, according to Lt. Gil Carrillo.

“The following day we found more human remains,” Carrillo said. “It is being [handled] by homicide because there appears to be a bullet hole in the skull.”

The bones are now with anthropologists who will help determine sex and approximate age.

“I don’t know how long that will take or how much they will be able to tell us,” Carrillo said.
