Flintridge Prep soccer skunks Poly

Flintridge Prep’s boys’ soccer team defeated Pasadena Poly last week, 4-0, to bring their Prep League record to 1-2. Rebels Jeff Nieh, Andy Davis, Alex Holden and Carey Cousineau all scored for Flintridge Prep, while goalkeeper Faud Beshir had seven saves.

La Cañada baseball, softball tryouts

The La Cañada Junior Baseball & Softball Association will hold tryouts Jan. 26.

Registration will continue through Jan. 25.

Baseball tryouts, under the direction of La Cañada Junior Baseball & Softball Association Baseball Vice President Bill Stoner, are on the varsity baseball field at La Cañada High School, with Babe Ruth (13- through 15-year-olds) at 9 a.m.; Bronco (11- and 12-year-olds) at 10 a.m.; Mustang 10 (10-year-olds) at 11 a.m.; and Mustang 9 (9-year-olds) at noon.

Pinto Tryouts (7- and 8-year-olds) were held Jan. 12, but players can still sign up, as can Shetland players (5- and 6-years-old).

Softball tryouts, under the direction of La Cañada Junior Baseball & Softball Association Vice President and Softball Commissioner Scott Cox, will be held at the varsity fooftball Oak Grove Field. All players playing Rookie League should attend tryouts at noon (last names A through M); and 1 p.m. (last names N through Z).

Above Rookie League, only those players who have not played before, or are pitchers, should attend tryouts.

Junior League players will try out at 2 p.m.

Senior League tryouts are at 3:45 p.m.

Super Senior League tryouts are at 11 a.m.

Pasadena Poly outshines Prep

The Flintridge Prep Rebels lost to visiting Pasadena Poly, 53-44. Edmund Chow led the Rebels with 15 points; Poly’s Justin Worland led his team with 12 points. Prep stands at 14-4, 3-1; Poly stands at 14-3, 3-0.

The Rebels play Webb on Jan. 22.
