French Art Soirée and wine tasting
Alliance Française de Pasadena again offering the French Art Soirée, an evening each year inspired by French culture that includes an art exhibition, Champagne, regional wine tasting, and a progressive stroll through Old Pasadena, from 4 to 7 p.m. March 22. This event celebrating classic French joie de vivre is free and open to all.
The Soirée is timed with the international celebration of “Francophonie,” which is recognized in more than 55 countries as a day that unites 200 million French speakers worldwide.
The Pasadena Soirée begins at 4 p.m. Attendees are invited to begin either at the Alliance Française de Pasadena, 34 E. Union St., or at the Armory Center for the Arts. At either location, participants can sample an array of regional wines, Champagnes and cheeses, and are invited to stroll between the two institutions at will. The evening concludes at 7 p.m.
At the Armory Center for the Arts, the exhibition includes more than 50 works by Pasadena area artists who have either lived, worked or been inspired by France, both in terms of their chosen subjects and artistic techniques.
The exhibition is curated by the Alliance Française de Pasadena to reflect French cultural influences on contemporary art. The exhibition runs through April 13.
