Local Teen Part of ‘New Moon’-Staged Party at Nordstrom’s

As if it weren’t cool enough to be a member of Nordstrom’s Brass Plum Fashion Board, 17-year-old Connie Panzarello of La Cañada Flintridge spent a recent Saturday modeling and helping to promote Brass Plum’s Twilight Takeover Party at The Grove in celebration of the release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

Joining other board members, Connie met stylists and photographers from Nordstrom and Seventeen magazine’s staff who were present to oversee the girls’ makeup and the “Twilight” fashions they would be wearingMany customers were seen photographing the girls modeling the ‘Twilight’ fashions and the young board members were responsible for getting the word out about the promotion with those visitors, among them several celebrities.

Connie is a junior at La Cañada High with aspirations for the fashion industry. As one of 10 girls chosen from among hundreds of applicants for The Grove location, she became a member of Nordstrom’s Brass Plum Fashion Board earlier this year. She will be participating in future Brass Plum fashion events through spring.

Palm Crest Elementary School Terrific Kids honored by Kiwanis

On Nov.18 the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada honored six outstanding Palm Crest Elementary School students at their weekly luncheon meeting. Kiwanian Tom Slaughter introduced the Terrific Kids and their parents to the Kiwanis and guests.

Future leaders at this meeting were Eleanor Kim who enjoys school and working with her classmates and teachers, likes all subjects with reading as “best,” enjoys music, plays the flute and the piano, teaches the hand bells to all the choir at All Nations Church.

Tyler Seto’s favorite subjects are science and math. He likes supporting his schoolmates and is a friend with all he meets. He enjoys playing basketball and golf, learning to play the electric guitar, hanging out with his friends and helps out in the classroom.

Jess Landesman enjoys school (science is a favorite subject), plays the clarinet in the school band, likes to play soccer. Jess loves to cook, spend time with classmates and friends and volunteers to help teachers.

Josh Fredrick enjoys photography and won 2nd place in Palm Crest’s Reflections contest. He plays percussion instruments in the school Concert Band, plays the piano, his favorite subject is computer technology and he enjoys science studies.

Leena Lim enjoys reading, is studying Spanish, likes helping her teachers and her classmates, plays soccer and is a member of an AYSO team.

Alec Vartanians’s favorite subjects are history and math. He enjoys swimming, likes collecting information especially historical facts, likes hanging out with his friends and family and enjoys bike riding.

Applause was given to each terrific kid and to their terrific parents. President Nick Berkuta invited the terrific kids and their parents for picture taking and also to stay for the rest of the noon program.
