Alleged mail thief arrested

L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies nabbed a suspected mail thief on Friday during a routine traffic stop in La Cañada Flintridge.

Altadena resident Charles Labbe, 22, was arrested around 6 p.m. after a deputy stopped him on suspicion of a seatbelt violation and discovered Labbe also had an outstanding warrant in Malibu for an alleged drug crime, said Sgt. Ray Harley.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered several bags that contained mail and credit cards that did not appear to belong to him.

At least two apparent victims of mail theft are La Cañada Flintridge residents, Harley said.

Labbe was charged with possession of stolen property. He remains in custody and will be arraigned this week at the Pasadena Superior Courthouse.
