Gala date nears for Union Station

Union Station Homeless Services on May 7 will hold its 3rd Annual A Place to Call Home benefit gala at the California Club, Los Angeles, courtesy of members Andrew and Avery Barth.

Actress Kate Burton will host the evening, which includes a silent auction, an opportunity drawing and a special presentation honoring the community work of Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, actress Jane Kaczmarek and community activists Gloria and Don Pitzer.

“Tonight in the San Gabriel Valley, 5,000 people — nearly 40% of them women and children — have no place to call home,” said event co-chair and former Union Station Homeless Services Board Chair Margo Kidushim. “These individuals and families have lost everything — their jobs, their homes and their sense of hope. At Union Station Homeless Services, they find sanctuary from the streets and the means to transform their lives in the form of a warm meal, a comfortable bed, caring staff and a full continuum of supportive services. As more and more people are experiencing homelessness for the first time, it’s important to Union Station that we provide them as best we can with a sense of home.”
