PTA News: Hoover heralds final school events

Hoover High School’s drama production, “J.B.”, is at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday and Sunday, in the auditorium. Purchase tickets at the door.

The senior prom is 7 p.m. Saturday at the Park Plaza Hotel. Purchase tickets in advance from the ASB. Scholarships and awards will be presented at the annual awards night on June 1.

The inspirational annual Baccalaureate event for graduates is 4 p.m. June 12 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1020 N. Brand Blvd. The year’s last PTSA meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 6 in room 12101. The evening starts with a potluck dinner and the installation of next year’s PTSA officers, followed by farewell to parents of seniors.

Toll Middle School

There will be a minimum day on Thursday due to Toll’s Open House starting at 6 p.m. The Razzmatazz Concert is from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium. There is no school May 30 due to Memorial Day.

Balboa Elementary

The PTA thanks Dr. Nelson and Dr. Dalton for presenting “Life at Toll,” to Balboa parents at the last PTA meeting. The PTA hosted an Italian Appreciation Luncheon for teachers and staff. Thank you to Patty Lizzaraga and Lisa Deyell for chairing the event.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin Magnet School International Foreign Language Academy of Glendale, is holding its annual “Worldfest” event, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday featuring delicious authentic German, Italian and Mexican cuisine, and an international cookie table. There will be traditional folk music and dancing featuring an Armenian dance troupe and Flamenco dancers, plus the Franklin All Star Parent Band. Join Franklin for a day of culture, diversity, fun and games.

Jefferson Elementary

There is an executive board meeting of the PTA at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the conference room. The PTA will host a teacher and staff appreciation luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 27 in the auditorium. There will be a PTA association meeting at 6:30 p.m. June 2 in the auditorium. The PTA end of year picnic begins at 4 p.m. June 10 on the playground.

Mark Keppel Elementary

State testing at Keppel for students in second through fifth grade ends Friday. The PTA is hosting a Mother/Daughter Pajama Party in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. also on Friday. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at the front office. Keppel’s Open House from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 26.
