The Memorial Weekend Fiesta Days in 2001 celebrated the city of La Cañada Flintridge’s Silver Jubilee anniversary. To kick off the long holiday weekend, Allen Lund Co. hosted a poolside cocktail party at the LCF Country Club.
Twenty Years Ago
James E. Stratton, then vice principal of San Marino High School, was named principal of La Cañada High School, effective July 1, 1991. Stratton went on to become the superintendent of La Cañada Unified, a post from which he will retire at the end of this school year.

Dance for Fitness in La Cañada Flintridge was preparing its instructors and students to dance for donations in the 1981 Verdugo Mental Health Center’s “Dancethon.” Proceeds would help fund low-cost outpatient counseling services.

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada reported that over a span of a few years, club members had collected nearly 60,000 paperback books to be shipped to armed forces serving in Vietnam.
