Sheriff’s Department deputies seized a dozen mature marijuana plants on Saturday from the backyard of a vacant home on the 5100 block of Alta Canyada Road in La Cañada Flintridge.

The plants stood nearly eight feet tall and were seized at around 5 p.m., according to a statement by Sgt. Ray Harley of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Sgt. Kim Shelton said that the owner of the home does not live in the area and it is not immediately clear who may have had access to the property.

Harley said that deputies had received an anonymous tip about the backyard pot grow and an investigation by the department’s Narcotics Bureau is ongoing.
