Area 1

2900 block of Adams Street: A suitcase valued at $300 was stolen from a locked Ford SUV between 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 and 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. There was no sign of forced entry to vehicle, though there appeared to be two fresh fingerprints on the rear hatchback of the car.

3100 block of Foothill Boulevard: A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a sheriff’s deputy saw his car steaming and smoking while stopped in the parking lot of a Bank of America branch at 3:43 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. The car’s coolant was leaking, causing the smoke, and the driver was asleep behind the wheel.

2900 block of Community Avenue: An iPhone and a pair of shoes were stolen from a student’s bag while he played soccer at Crescenta Valley High School between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. The student did not see anyone near his bag while he was playing.

2900 block of Foothill Boulevard: A check was stolen out of a mailbox, and later altered and deposited by the thief, sometime between 9:55 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 and 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The mail had been deposited in the U.S. Post Office mailbox in front of the Chase Bank.

1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard: A man stole a Motorola Atrix cell phone, valued at $449, from the AT&T store at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The man looked at phones for an hour before running out of the store with one in his hand and entering a Toyota sedan.

Area 2

1200 block of Fernside Drive: A Honda Accord was stolen and a Honda Civic broken into while the cars were parked in a driveway between 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 and 8:15 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. There was no sign of forced entry to the Civic, from which a radio faceplate and portable radio were stolen.

800 block of Salisbury Road: A MacBook laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen from an unlocked car while it was parked on the street. The theft occurred sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

800 block of Salisbury Road: Mail was stolen from a residential mailbox between 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The resident did not receive mail and contacted officials at the post office, who stated that mail had been delivered that day.

Area 3

1300 block of Verdugo Boulevard: A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol when he flipped his black BMW onto its driver’s side against the curb on Verdugo Boulevard at 5:36 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23. The man was sitting on the curb next to the vehicle when a sheriff’s deputy arrived, and had no injuries.

300 block of Meadow Grove Street: A home was burgled while its owners were on vacation, with cash, gold coins, jewelry and a laptop computer being stolen sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 and 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. The owners were on vacation from that prior Monday, and their daughter had been at the house on Friday. There were no signs of forced entry to the house.
