Police Blotter Nov. 24: iPad, GPS devices, laptops stolen from vehicles

Area 1

2300 Block of Florencita Avenue: A Motorola cell phone and a Garmin GPS device were stolen from a locked Chevy Van sometime between 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 and 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. There was no sign of forced entry to the van.

3000 Block of Fairesta Street: An XM satellite radio was stolen from a locked Jeep Cherokee after its driver’s side window was smashed sometime between 11 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. During the same time period, a Mercedes E320 parked on the same block had its rear window smashed, but nothing was stolen.

3100 Block of Prospect Avenue: An HP laptop, HP tablet P.C., a briefcase and cash were stolen from a locked Acura MDX sometime between 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. The items had been left in the vehicle’s rear cargo compartment, and the car had its rear window smashed.

3100 Block of Alabama Street: A shoulder bag, containing only miscellaneous papers, was stolen from a locked Honda Accord via a smashed front window sometime between 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17.

2500 Block of Prospect Avenue: A sewing machine, tool box, and $1000 worth of tools were stolen from a locked Honda Civic sometime between 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, but the driver’s side window was found slightly opened after being closed when the car’s owner last used it.

4400 Block of La Crescenta Avenue: A cup holder was stolen from a locked Honda Accord sometime between 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 and 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle.

Verdugo Boulevard at Union Street: A 24-year-old woman was arrested for possession of Vicodin and driving on a suspended license at 1:06 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The woman had changed lanes suddenly in her gold Mercedes 500S, forcing a Sheriff’s Deputy to brake hard to avoid hitting her. After pulling her over for that violation, the deputy discovered that she was driving on a suspended license and found eight Vicodin in her purse. The woman was booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

600 Block of Foothill Boulevard: An Apple iPad and an Amazon Kindle were stolen from a locked Toyota Avalon while it was parked in the T.J. Maxx parking lot on Foothill Boulevard, sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday Nov. 21. The car was entered through a smashed passenger window.
