St. Francis robotics team gets JCPenney grant

Share

The St. Francis High School Robotics Team, Team Brobot, recently received a grant from JCPenney that will allow the team to build and enter robots in regional robotics competitions throughout the school year. JCPenney, in conjunction with the non-profit group FIRST, is sponsoring 500 robotics teams nationwide to encourage students to become science and technology leaders.

Team Brobot’s motto is “Building brotherhood one robot at a time.” The team hopes to use this motto to achieve a sense of teamwork, leadership — and of course, brotherhood. Under the leadership of Benny Sibal, technology director at St. Francis, and assisted by 2008 St. Francis graduate Russell Juma, the team will build and program robots to compete in series of fast-paced challenges.
