Orientation for parents of incoming kindergarten students

La Cañada Unified will host an orientation for parents of incoming kindergarten students 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at Palm Crest Elementary School. School officials will outline all registration procedures, including requirements such as proof of age and proof of residence.

State law dictates that children who turn five years old on or before Nov. 1, 2012 are eligible for kindergarten this fall.

During the meeting the district’s three elementary school principals, as well as their kindergarten teachers, will discuss kindergarten readiness and the language arts and math curriculum. A district nurse will review all immunization requires for new kindergarten students. A question and answer session will follow.
