La Cañada Flintridge was jumping on Saturday when the Foothill Force jump-rope team hosted a jump-rope tournament at La Cañada High School’s south gym. Eight teams hoping to send jumpers to the national tournament in Long Beach in June came out to compete in singles, doubles and double Dutch, in which jumpers move through ropes traveling in opposite directions.

All 19 of Foothill Force’s jumpers, ages 8 to 15, qualified for the nationals. Dane Reeb of La Cañada High School 7/8 won six first-place ribbons.

The team’s 10-and-under group earned first-, second-, third- and fourth-place honors in the single speed rope event, which drew 16 entries.
