La Cañada Flintridge crime blotter: Forgery suspect arrested

Grand theft: 4500 block of Vinetta Avenue, 2 p.m. A man seen driving down Hampton Road and stopping in the middle of the street was stopped by a deputy, who recognized him as a forgery suspect. A search of the car revealed several checks, worth a total of $1,063, believed to have been taken out of their owner’s mailbox. The man was booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Theft: 900 block of Green Lane, after 10:30 p.m. A golf bag and set of golf clubs, valued at $1,900, were taken from a garage accidentally left open.

Theft: 2500 block of Cross Street, after 7 p.m. Four flags and four flag poles were stolen from the front of St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church. A Mexican, Korean, rainbow and ecological flag were taken; an American flag was left standing.

May 16

Auto burglary: 2600 block of Mary Street, 9:30 p.m. or later: Window smashed, a Nikon camera, XO sunglasses, Coach handbag, Bulova watch, gold bracelet and $400 in cash taken from a locked Toyota Corolla.

Auto burglary: 2900 block of Mary Street, 9:30 p.m. or later: Window smashed, iPhone taken from Acura MDX.

Attempted auto burglary: 310 block of Brookhill Street, after 8:40 p.m.: Window smashed, bumper dented on Toyota Corolla.

Auto burglary: 2600 block of Altura Avenue, after 6 p.m. Car stereo and MP3 player taken from an unlocked Chevy Suburban in its owner’s driveway.
