La Cañada approves first Mills Act contract

Share

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council voted 4-0 Monday night to approve a Mills Act contract for the property at 4166 Woodleigh Lane.

Councilwoman Laura Olhasso was not in attendance. This is the first such historic preservation contract approved by the city after it put the program in place earlier this year. The owner of the home is Bradley Schwartz, the resident who originally brought the Mills Act to the city’s attention last year.

The Schwartz property is one of four applications the city has received for a Mills Act contract, which gives property owners a break on their property taxes if the home is deemed historic, and the owner completes specific restoration and maintenance tasks. The reduction in property tax will be determined by the L.A. County Assessor’s office.
