Former resident, Charlotte Anne White, passes away at 98

Former La Cañada resident Charlotte Anne Talbott White passed away Oct. 28 at a skilled nursing facility in Culver City where she had lived for the past five years. She was 98.

A native of Fly, Ohio, White studied piano and organ during her early years and had a distinguished musical career lasting into her late 80s, according to family members. A 1936 graduate of Denison University, she served as a church musician in Ohio, California and Arizona.

In the 1950s she and her husband, Erven, settled with their children in La Cañada, first on Alminar Avenue and later on Beulah Drive. In 1958, the Whites moved to 29 Palms, where they operated a fabric and sewing machine business. In 1990 the couple embarked on a recreational vehicle lifestyle and ultimately landed in Wickenburg, Ariz.

White is survived by her husband and by daughter Frances Talbott-White, son-in-law Stephen M. Fry, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Rex. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Charlotte White be made to La Cañada Congregational Church, Little Church of the Desert in 29 Palms, First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, Ariz., or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
