Smart, competent and effective

As an engaged school parent, I have been actively involved for the last 13 years in our children's education. I have served as a classroom helper, room representative, volunteer GATE teacher at the middle school and all three elementary school campuses, PTA, Site Council, Co-President of the Music Parent Association from 2009 - 2011 and the 2010-11 LCFEF president. In my experience, Ellen Multari stands out as one of the most competent, smart and effective parents I have ever met. In her many leadership roles in PTA, Site Council, the LCFEF, the 2010/2011 Task Force, Curriculum Council and the Bond Oversight Committee, Ellen has demonstrated her commitment to our children and our community. She has also been a classroom volunteer. We are fortunate that she is willing and ready to do more as a school board member.

Working alongside Ellen on several organizations, I have seen first-hand what an effective communicator she is and what she can accomplish. Ellen’s many strengths include effective written and verbal communication skills. She thinks outside the box and will use her interpersonal and consensus building talents on the school board to foster collaboration and compromise to resolve issues. Ellen has an invaluable perspective from her breadth of experience, not only within LCUSD, but also from the other public and private schools her children attended before moving to La Cañada.

Ellen deserves your support of her candidacy. She respects our schools’ strengths but clearly recognizes, as many do, the areas for improvement. With Ellen on the board, you will acquire the following: an immediate response to your concerns; better communication between the board and the community; greater teacher and board accountability to student performance and parent concerns; clarity of our financial realities; and someone who will work toward securing supplemental funding to provide for the future of our hallmark programs as well as to allow for the development of new programs.

Please join me in voting for Ellen Multari on Nov. 8. You can find out more about Ellen's candidacy and the challenges our schools face at or directly via email at
