Removal of JPL parking lot will benefit Arroyo users

Share

Over the next 18 months, the environment of the Arroyo Seco will be enhanced with the removal of the parking lot just to the east of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Construction of a parking structure on JPL property will enable removal of the existing 1100-space lot, returning a significant areaback to the natural state of the Arroyo watershed.

In order to construct the new parking structure, it is necessary to temporarily close a hiking trail on JPL property that runs along the lab’s eastern fence line.

We appreciate that the trail closure will be an inconvenience to those of our neighbors who use it, and we look forward to reopening the segment on JPL property as soon as possible when construction is completed. In the long run, removal of JPL’s east parking lot will benefit everyone who enjoys the Arroyo’s outdoor setting.

Anyone in the community who has questions about the project is invited to contact KimLievense, Manager of JPL’s Public Services Office, at (818) 354-0112.
