Upcoming seminars on grief, parenting

A Burbank couple will speak about parenting and raising a family at La Cañada Presbyterian Church later this month.

Joyce Warman, a piano, voice, and theory teacher, and Marvin Warman, a therapist in La Cañada Flintridge, will offer their advice at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

The church will also host a seminar on coping with grief in their library on Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Rev. Peter Hintzoglou said in a statement that people often experience grief during the holiday season after a family member has passed away.

“The journey of grief is very unpredictable, and the holidays bring about that intensity in ways we have never expected,” he stated.

The grief seminar is free and open to people of all faiths.

Members of the church’s Parent Education program took a trip to Newport Beach last month to recharge and formulate goals for the next school year.

Classes are still available through the program. Residents may sign up online at www.lacanadapc.org/parented or by calling (818) 790-6708, Ext. 205.

La Cañada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd.
