Letter: What progress since the windstorm?

Share

This Saturday, Nov. 30, marks the two-year anniversary that my family’s home, and hundreds of other La Cañada Flintridge homes, lost their power for six to seven days following a windstorm.

Thousands of additional LCF homes also lost their power during the same windstorm, for periods lasting from two to five days. This is an excellent opportunity to publicly ask Southern California Edison and the city of La Cañada Flintridge what’s being done to alleviate this untenable situation from ever happening again.

My understanding is that, for over 30 years beginning in the mid-’80s and to properly provide electric power to a home, a majority of Southern California homes have been upgraded to larger electric grids from what clearly is a woefully inadequate system that La Cañada Flintridge is still stuck with.

Two years later, what is being done to correct this unacceptable situation and to include our community in what is the norm for a majority of our neighboring SoCal cities?
