Sports Roundup: La Cañada High boys’ basketball captures tournament title

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 67, California 55: The Spartans captured the Arroyo Tournament championship plaque after picking up a victory on Saturday night in El Monte.

Sophomore guard KoKo Kurdoghlian was named tournament MVP after scoring 21 points and leading his squad to its fourth victory in a row to begin the season.

Spartans senior guard Jacob Brown and Dan Cohen were named to the all-tournament team.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Granada Hills 4, St. Francis 3: The Golden Knights fell in the consolation championship match of the Ralph Brandt Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Paolo Ramirez, Jake Anderson and Jason Carmody all scored for the Golden Knights (2-2-1), who lost to Granada Hills by a goal for the second time in the tournament.

St. Francis next plays in the Oceanside Nike High School Invitational on Dec. 27.
