Sports Roundup: La Cañada High boys’, girls’ basketball collect nonleague wins

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 39, Oak Park 31: Defense led the way for the Spartans on Tuesday night as the home team held Oak Park to 12 points in the first half of a nonleague victory.

Senior Alyssa Miller scored 11 points, while Courtney Chen added nine points and 10 rebounds and Marie Weston contributed 13 rebounds for the Spartans (11-4), who won their third straight.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 48, Montebello 42: Sophomore guard Koko Kurdoghlian scored 22 points and added six rebounds for the Spartans in nonleague play Tuesday evening.

Grant Arthur added 16 points and six rebounds, while Jacob Brown chipped in seven points for the Spartans (9-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
