Sports Roundup: La Cañada High boys’ hoops wraps up undefeated Rio Hondo run

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 65, San Marino 55: For the 15th time in his 28-year career, coach Tom Hofman’s squad finished undefeated within the Rio Hondo League thanks to a road victory Thursday afternoon.

Grant Arthur paced the Spartans (20-6, 10-0 in league) with 22 points, while Ko Ko Kurdoghlian chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds.

Overall, La Cañada has won 22 titles during Hofman’s tenure. The Spartans will next take part in the CIF Southern Section Division III-A playoffs beginning next week.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 2, San Marino 0: The Spartans capped the regular season with a Rio Hondo League road victory Thursday afternoon.

Luke Bonham and Mena Hanna notched goals for La Cañada, while goalie Michael Selsor finished with three saves.

The win coupled with a loss by South Pasadena locked up second place in league for the Spartans (13-4-5, 6-2-2 overall), who finished runner-up to Monrovia.

Up next for La Cañada is the CIF Southern Section Division V playoffs next week.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 2, Webb 0: Flintridge Prep finished up the regular season Thursday with a Prep League victory, as sophomores Katherine Pinney and Isabella Boyles scored for the Rebels.

Prep finished the regular season at 12-4-5 and 7-1-2 in league for second place.
