Baseball season moves into high gear on Saturday

Southern Section teams join City Section teams on Saturday with the official start of the high school baseball season.

No. 1-ranked Huntington Beach is playing Aliso Niguel in a 10 a.m. doubleheader at Irvine Valley College. Huntington Beach hasn’t forgotten getting swept by Aliso Niguel last season in a doubleheader.

The Easton tournament gets under way with some top matchups. Oaks Christian is at Hart and Agoura is at Alemany. Defending City Section Division I champion El Camino Real opens on the road at Lancaster.

In the Southern California tournament, Crescenta Valley plays La Canada in a 6 p.m. game at the newly restored Stengel Field.

On Monday, No. 1 Huntington and No. 2 Orange Lutheran will face off in a 7 p.m. game at Hart Park in Orange.
