Football: Gardena Serra loses Rasheem Green to injury

Share

The injury woes are not ending for Gardena Serra, which learned this week that standout defensive lineman Rasheem Green will be lost for the season after suffering a knee injury last week in the regular-season finale against Loyola.

Green is the fifth Serra starter lost for the season because of injury.

Green had eight sacks and more than a dozen tackles for losses. He’s considered a five-star college prospect at 6 feet 5, 285 pounds.

“The tackles for losses are real stats,” Coach Scott Altenberg said.

The Cavaliers have had time this week to work on a Plan B without Green. They will face Corona Centennial on Friday night at Centennial in a Pac-5 Division opening round playoff game.

Green was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January. Altenberg is scheduled to be one of the head coaches in the game but Green won’t be able to play.
