Swimming: 39-year-old City Section record broken by Palisades’ Kian Brouwer
It was a day to remember for junior Kian Brouwer of Palisades.
He turned the City Section swim championships on Friday into his personal pool party.
Brouwer shattered a 39-year-old City Section record in winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:38.55.
“It’s pretty good,” Brouwer said. “I’ve been trying to get it since last year.”
Then he set another City Section record in winning the 100 butterfly in 48.42. And he set another record in the 50 freestyle. He was part of five City records set on Friday, including both relays.
Palisades won its fourth consecutive City boys’ title. Palisades also won its seventh consecutive girls’ title.
