Clippers beat the Kings, 109-94

It was a typical night for the Clippers.

They blew a double-digit, first-half lead. And there was a play by Blake Griffin that will be replayed many times on highlight shows.

In the end, the Clippers pulled off a 109-94 vicotry over the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center in their second meeting in three days.

The Clippers led by as many as 14 points in the first half but saw their lead fall to one point, 72-71, when Kings guard Francisco Garcia made a three-pointer with less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter.

But the Kings didn’t do much after that. They shot a dreadful 32% in the third quarter. The Clippers shot 56%. The Clippers entered the fourth quarter with an 82-74 lead, which they proceeded to turn into a more than 20-point advantage.

At the top of the fourth quarter, Staples Center stood after Chris Paul and Eric Bledsoe made dunks on consecutive plays. The Kings called a timeout and DeAndre Jordan hugged Paul as he walked toward the bench.

Griffin finished with 27 points on 12-for-15 shooting and had 14 rebounds. Randy Foye had 25 points on nine-for-14 shooting, including seven of nine from three-point range.

And so much for keeping Griffin off of SportsCenter for a night.

Griffin was shoved from behind by Donte Greene with 3 minutes 35 seconds left in the third quarter. As Griffin fell out of bounds, he tossed up an underhanded, over-the-shoulder shot, which swished through the net.

After deliberating for a few minutes, the referees dealt Greene a flagrant-one foul on the play and discounted Griffin’s shot.

The Clippers defeated the Kings, 93-85, in a chippy game on Thursday night in Sacramento.
